We are always
looking for new and interesting and unusual books and
we are also interested in information about out of print
books which may be worth bringing back in new editions.
Here
are the guidelines which please study if you are thinking
of submitting either a manuscript or a proposal.
We much prefer to have books sent
in electronically in the first instance. Please submit
a proposal/synopsis in advance of any text at all.
We will let you know if we wish to proceed to the
next stage which would be to see, also via e-mail,
the first few chapters of any book.
We publish VERY LITTLE FICTION -
But if you are a FIRST NOVELIST see details of our
annual FIRST NOVEL COMPETITION.
NO poetry, no technical manuals, heavily
colour- illustrated books or books of photographs,
art books and similar.
We are not interested in seeing privately printed
family memoirs. We must feel strongly that a book
deserves and has a good chance of achieving a wide
audience before we agree to publish it, and such books
are unlikely to be able to fulfil this criteria.
We do publish some children`s books
for the under 9 age group. Please do not send ‘Cross-over’
or teenage fiction.
We welcome submissions from children`s
book illustrators. Please send a covering e-mail and
samples of your work if at all possible by e-mail.
DO NOT SEND ORIGINAL ART WORK by post in the first
instance. Photocopies are fine but we would prefer
to see samples by e-mail in jpg or PDF formats.
If you want to submit a proposal please
follow this format in your initial e-mail.
We will look at every suggestion/proposal,
and read all online submissions but this may (or may
not) take us some time. Please do not nag us for at
least 2 months. We will always acknowledge receipt so
if you have not had an e-mail acknowledgement within
48 hours, please re-send, or at least enquire. Spam
boxes have minds of their own.
If you send us a proposal or the first
chapters of a book by e-mail PLEASE name the file, do
not just call it ‘Novel’ or ‘Proposal.’
(They could get lost in our system.)
If your entry is in several parts PLEASE put them into
a single file, do not send four separate chapters as
four separate word files. (It makes our lives easier.)
We don`t want appear all Rules and Regulations.
We do welcome ideas and proposals. But the above are
guidelines to save you time and trouble – and
us too of course.
